Hi all,

I stopped blogging for a quite some time because I just didn’t know what to blog about anymore. I didn’t want to just write for the sake of writing without inspiration. I’ve been trying to find myself and figure out the world around me with a much stronger understanding. However, I just never felt the motivation to write, until very recently.

If you’ve read my other posts, you might have picked up that I am a clarinetist with a strong interest in the science and medical field. I have made the decision to abandon the endeavor of going to med-school because I have realized that the only thing I want to do in life is perform. I love the clarinet and everything about it. I want to get better at it and be taken seriously in the clarinet world. I value the lessons I’ve learned from my clarinet professor, Dr. Charles West at VCU. He is such a wise man with so much information to share. I can say with certainty that I’ve learned more about myself from practicing and taking clarinet lessons than by any other medium I could imagine. After-all, I consider music and clarinet-playing my life now so it only makes sense that the more I progress, the more I figure out about myself.

Something else I’ve been taking seriously since February this year (2011) is my physical appearance. I came into college weighing an embarrassing 250(ish) pounds at 5’9″ and I am still in progress but now weigh about 190 pounds. I have also learned a lot of things about myself through this process of weight-loss, and I believe that the motivational tools I picked up from music are helping me develop the body I would like to achieve.

This blog is about how I have managed to relate my knowledge of an aspect of the human body to my clarinet playing. Each post in this category will be one of the lessons I’ve learned over time. I believe these posts have potential for overflow.

I hope that you will be able to take the things I mention in this series of posts and apply them to your own life whether you’re trying to change your weight or become a better musician… or even just a better person.
